Snow knew he could have been much worse in the way he'd said or done things, but it was the only way he knew how in that moment. He was asking because he wanted to see if they could make it work. He saw potential, and like Yuki he'd felt a connection with Yuki and hadn't quite knew how to work it out into concrete words beyond that he felt he needed him.

The way he was precariously on his knee meant that the momentum of Yuki's launching himself in his arms caused him to fall backwards, Snow managing a "woah!" before he toppled backwards with the other on top, still very close to his face.
"Easy there," he laughed tentatively from his position on the floor with that shaggy hair still visible, though he accepted that the bursts of emotions meant that slowly, ever so slowly Yuki was opening up. He liked seeing this side of him, in any case.
